Description

Students will explore the different disciplines of engineering throughout this week long camp, while considering the importance of an engineer's role in sustainable design and ensuring public safety. They will work through the engineering design process, including creating a prototype and presenting it to parents at the end of the camp. This camp will be held at STEAM PEI's Etl-kisite'tasik Makerspace where students can make use of 3D printers, laser cutters, and vinyl cutters for their prototypes. Suitable for ages 10-14.

Description

Students will spend the week learning a variety of digital skills involving coding and game development including planning, storyboarding, testing/debugging, visual and audio creation, and coding. Students will work individually and in groups on game development and may choose from a variety of programming languages and platforms to suitably challenge themselves. 

Suitable for students ages 10 - 14 who have had some previous coding experience. All equipment is provided, except students might like to bring their own headphones.

Girls in Design Camp is a fun, hands-on experience introducing girls to the world of design, from architecture and interior spaces to furniture and products.

Participants will explore creative thinking, bring ideas to life through sketching, and see how designs shape the world around us. Along the way, girls gain confidence, strengthen problem-solving skills, and discover the possibilities of careers in design and innovation.

By the end, they’ll see the world differently, and know that they can be the designers of the future.

The Makers Camp is  week camp where young makers get hands-on, creative, and curious. If you love building, experimenting, or trying new ideas, this is your space! Through fun group challenges and hands-on workshops, you’ll design, tinker, and create while building confidence and perseverance.

No experience needed, just bring your imagination, and we’ll help you grow your maker skills along the way.
